Following a turn as exec VP of TV at Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures, William Hamm has been joined the Starz Media team as exec VP of creative development, reports Daily Variety. In then new role, he will oversee development of original content, including animated series and fims.
Hamm will report to Starz president and chief operating officer Kent Rice, and will work closely with Film Roman/Starz Prods. president Scott Greenberg and Starz Animation Toronto president David Steinberg, as well as home video president Bill Clark.
Past gigs for Hamm include head of scripted series development at Tribune Ent. and senior VP of scripted drama at Universal TV. He was also a consultant for the Institute for Creative Technologies, a think tank that enlists Hollywood players to help the Dept. of Defense develop new training techniques for combating terrorism.
Starz Media, a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corp., took control of a burgeoning animation empire when it acquired IDT Ent. in August of 2006. Starz’s flagship animated theatrical feature, Everyone’s Hero, was released by 20th Century Fox last September and will be followed by Space Chimps and Sheepish in 2008. For television, the group produces the animated series Wow! Wow! Wubbzy for Nick Jr., Eloise for Starz Kids & Family. Direct-toDVD productions include two popular Hellboy Animated movies and the Stan Lee Presents superhero toons Mosaic and The Condor, as well as Rob Zombie’s upcoming animated movie The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. In addition, Starz on Demand is home to Angry Alien Prod.’s Bunnies Theater, a series of 30-second, animated versions of major motion pictures starring rabbits.
