Sources tell us that Bob Higgins, senior VP of programming and development for Cartoon Network’s kids’ businesses in the U.S., will be leaving the network. The news follows on the heels of Jennifer Davidson’s promotion to the post of senior VP of programming and scheduling. Higgins took the kids’ programming and development reigns in June of 2003, and Davidson has been with the network since its launch in 1993.
At Cartoon Network, Higgins oversaw the launch of a number of hit original series, including Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, My Gym Partner’s A Monkey and Camp Lazlo. Before joining the network, he served as Classic Media’s senior VP and exec producer for all television, feature film and direct-to-video product based on characters and properties from Harvey Comics, Jay Ward Prods., UPA and others. He was instrumental in getting the classic Jay Ward cartoon series Mr. Peabody and Sherman into feature-film development at DreamWorks Animation.
Davidson previously served as VP of marketing, ad trade, consumer-products trade and strategic operations for Cartoon Network. In her new role, she will spearhead scheduling of on-air content and strategic positioning for Cartoon and Boomerang content, as well as promotion for late-night block Adult Swim.
