Ramachandra Heads Entertainment at Galleon

U.K.-based intellectual property owner, manager and developer Galleon Holdings plc has hired MILIA award winner Mahesh Ramachandra as global director of entertainment. Working with Galleon CEO Stephen Green, he will oversee the company’s convergent media strategy and help to monetize its entertainment properties, particularly the recently launched multiplatform show Super Soccer Star, across multiple platforms and territories.

Prior to joining Galleon, Ramachandra served as VP of international and product development at Cellcast plc, overseeing interactive format programming across Cellcast’s global network. With more than 11 years of experience in interactive media, he won the Young Talent award at MILIA 1997 in Cannes after founding Magnetica New Media Design in Singapore. He then was hired as VP of new media for Singapore-based SPH MediaWorks Ltd., where he pioneered interactive advertising campaigns, enhanced television programs and fully-interactive SMS-to-TV multiplayer games.

Galleon Ent. owns, develops and manages children and family entertainment properties including the animated shows Skunk Fu! and Sokator 442. The company has also branched out into adult animation with the animated series Apollo’s Pad. Working in association with Sony BMG, Galleon oversaw production on six episodes of the musical comedy show targeted at viewers 16-24. Stephen Green created the show with Galleon managing director Len Dunne. Production is being handled by London-based Good Story Prods., whose writing team includes Chris Brown (South Park, Friends), with animation from Canadian company Copernicus Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The property launched in October on apollospad.com.
