Two Towers Ties Indiana Jones for VSDA Noms

The Video Software Dealers Association today announced nominees for the 2004 Home Entertainment Awards, putting The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers and The Adventures Of Indiana Jones box set in the lead with four nods each. Close behind with three nominations apiece are Finding Nemo, T2–Extreme DVD, the animated direct-to-video release Barbie Of Swan Lake and the video game Tony Hawk’s Underground.

Other animated titles making the cut include Looney Tunes–The Golden Collection (Archival Title from a Major Studio, Packaging of the Year), Flintstones–The Complete First Season (Archival TV Series), Lion King 1 1/2 (Direct to Video/Limited Release from a Major Studio), The Animatrix (Direct to Video/Limited Release from a Major Studio), Watership Down: Journey to Watership Down (Family Title from an Independent Studio), Hot Wheels–World Race (Family Title from an Independent Studio), Speed Racer–Episodes 1-11 (Packaging of the Year), Family Guy—Seasons 1 and 2 (Sell-through Title from a Major Studio) and Family Guy–Season 3 (TV Series on DVD). This year’s award categories and nominees were determined by VSDA’s Home Entertainment Awards Nominating Committee, which is comprised of retailers, distributors and journalists. The winners of the Home Entertainment Awards will be announced on July 14 at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.
