The classic musical Mary Poppins, starring Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews, is getting a two-disc special edition DVD for its 40th-anniversary and Daily Variety reports that special features will include an new animated short. The DVD will be released by Buena Vista Home Entertainment on Dec. 14.
Andrews hosts the animated short, which is based on an original P.L. Travers story about a magical nanny who moves in with a bankers family and brings it closer together. Former Duchess of York Sara Ferguson, Tracy Ullman (The Tracy Ullman Show) and David Ogden Stiers (Disneys Teachers Pet) provide voices.
Other extras will include commentary by Andrews, Van Dyke, co-composer Richard Sherman and others. There will also be a new rendition of the never-before-heard deleted song "Chimpanzoo," a set-top game and a 50-minute behind-the-scenes featurette with never-before-released footage and new interviews.
