Move over VeggieTales! There’s a new CG-animated Christian-theme toon on the home entertainment horizon. Keyframe Digital Productions, in association with Reel Inspired Toons, has announced that its original 3D animated/live-action series for preschool children, The Hugglers, will be the premiere title for the new Crash Kidz DVD/VHS label. The series will be distributed by Sony’s family video division Red Distribution, Inc. and is due out Oct. 19.

Developed and directed by Darren Cranford and Clint Green, The Hugglers centers on a unique group of friends–Chip, Wanda Boo, Freddie, Rollie and Burt–who with the guidance and support of their Sunday school teacher, embark on faith-based journeys and adventures that build trust, understanding, confidence, self-esteem and faith in God.

"We are extremely proud of how Hugglers has turned out. From the great people involved to the response from viewers, all solidifies the fact that we are doing something right," says Darren Cranford. "From the very beginning, we believed that if we are true to ourselves, then God would help us see it through, and finding great partners like Crash Kidz and Sony is yet further proof that he trusts what we are doing."

The DVD features such extras as a behind-the-scenes look at the production in the making, an interactive music player and character biographies. Davey and Goliath couldn’t be reached for comments!
