Warner Packages Holiday Specials

Warner Home Video announced the Oct. 2 release of the Christmas Television Favorites collection, a DVD set containing eight of television’s most beloved animated holiday classics. Included are How the Grinch Stole Christmas Deluxe Edition, Horton Hears a Who!, The Year Without a Santa Claus Deluxe Edition, Rudolph’s Shiny New Year, Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey, Frosty’s Winter Wonderland, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas and Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July.

‘Knowing how much consumers love these programs, we decided to make them available in one beautiful, distinctive boxed set to illustrate how special they are,” says Dorinda Marticorena, VP of family, animation & sports marketing for Warner Home Video. ‘Parents who grew up with these programs now want to pass them along to their own children so they can enjoy the rich, wonderful stories and important messages that are presented in each of the specials.’

The Rankin/Bass 1974 stop-motion classic The Year Without a Santa Claus has been newly re-mastered for the Deluxe Edition and will be released separately as well on Oct. 2. Bonus features will include We are Santa’s Elves, a documentary focusing on the legacy of Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass, and School of Stop Motion, which takes viewers behind the scenes at modern stop-motion animation studio Chiodo Bros. Prods., and offers a step-by-step demonstration for youngsters.

The Christmas Television Favorites is a four-disc set that will come in collectible packaging reminiscent of a classic storybook with foil accents. The release will carry a suggested retail price of $39.72. For more information on this and other titles distributed by Warner Home Video, go to www.whvdirect.com.
