A show about animals that take on human personalities meets the adventures of a human boy who can become ten different alien creatures in this week’s batch of TV favorites on DVD. The CBS series Creature Comforts America is available as a two-disc set featuring all seven episodes from Aardman Animations, while the second season of Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 delivers 13 episodes plus extras on two discs.
From the makers of Wallace and Gromit and the hit BBC Creature Comforts series comes Creature Comforts America, a clay-animated show in which the words of ordinary people interviewed on the street are put in the mouths of clay critters for comical effect. The concept originated with filmmaker Nick Park’s Academy Award-winning 1991 short film, Creature Comforts, which eventually became a hit television series in the U.K.
In addition to exclusive bonus animal interviews, the Creature Comforts America DVD includes deleted scenes, on-air promos and a feature referred to as ‘Creature Comforts Character Comps.’ Fans of the show can own the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment release for the list price of $29.95.
Ben 10 is a half-hour series that follows the adventures of 10-year-old Ben Tennyson, whose life is changed when he comes across the Omnitrix, an out-of-this-world wristwatch. With the extraterrestrial gizmo, Ben can transform into any one of ten alien beings, each with their own fantastic superpowers that help him battle the evil Viglax, who will stop at nothing to get the Omnitrix. The show is created by Man of Action (the collective name for Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, Duncan Rouleau and Steve Seagle), and produced by Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, Calif.
The Ben 10: The Complete Season 2 disc set from Warner Home Video lists for $19.98 and includes the bonus features How to Draw Heatblast, Alien Breakdown, deleted scenes and commentary on the episode ‘Ghost Freakout’. The live action movie Ben 10: Race Against Time is slated to air in primetime on Cartoon Network on Nov 21.
