Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics are well represented in this week’s batch of home video debuts as the complete fourth seasons of The Batman and Teen Titans arrive on DVD as part of the DC Comics Kids Collection. There’s more action and adventure to be found in BCI/Eclipse’s first release of the ’80 cartoon series BraveStarr. The first volume of season one episodes is now available at retail.
The Batman: The Complete Fourth Season features a redesign of Bruce Wayne/Batman and welcomes Batgirl as official members of the Dark Knight’s team, which includes trusty sidekick Robin the Boy Wonder. Together, they defend the good people of Gotham City from such villains as Killer Moth, Black Mask and Everywhere Man. The two-disc set features 13 episodes of the Emmy Award-winning series that airs Saturdays on Kids’ WB!. The release lists for $19.98 and includes the featurette The Batman: Season 4 Unmasked. The doc examines how series creators decided on the current incarnation of Robin and looks at the character’s relationships with Batman and Batgirl.
Young superheroes Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven are back for more character-driven adventures in Teen Titans: The Complete Fourth Season. The deluxe, two-disc edition offers 13 episodes based on Terror of Trigon, one of the most popular story arcs from the New Teen Titans comic-book series. The set lists for $19.98 and includes the behind-the-scenes featurette Teen Titans: Know Your Foes. Five distinct vignettes give viewers access to top secret files and examines such villains as Control Freak, Bob & the Source, Billy Numerous, Mother Mae-Eye and Trigon.
The last series produced by Filmation and Group W. Prods., BraveStarr follows the adventures of Marshall Bravestarr, who has come to the rough-and-tumble mining planet of New Texas to bring law and order to its people and protect them from outlaw Tex Hex and various other villains who seek to steal the planet’s valuable mineral deposits. He is joined in his quest by the beautiful Judge J. B. and a shape-changing mechanical horse named Thirty-Thirty. Season One, Vol. One is a four-disc set that retails for $39.98.
