For those who don’t have a fireplace to cozy up to, or just don’t want to bother with firewood and ashes, renowned stop-motion animator PES of Anonymous Content has released a new project that will help keep the holiday season animated. The Fireplace is his own version of the televised Yule Log and other virtual hearths that play in DVD players.
The first in a series of party DVDs from PES, The Fireplace features pretzel logs with candy corn animated to simulate flickering flames. Complete with the sound of crackling firewood, the animation runs on a loop like its live-action counterparts.
‘Of all my films, this is my personal favorite,” says PES. ‘The idea was to make a film that could play for hours in the background at parties, clubs, or even while just lounging around the house, essentially turning your TV from a black box into pop art.’
The original televised Yule Log dates back to 1966 and has aired on Christmas day for 45 years now. The concept has been copied by a number of DVD producers over the years, but no one has thought to market an animated version until now. The product is perhaps a perfect companion to the classic Rankin and Bass stop-motion holiday specials.
Music Today, and artist-fan connection specialist whose clients include The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the estate of Elvis, is handling customer fulfillment for PES’ entire line of Party DVDs. For more information or to purchase The Fireplace, visit www.eatPES.com
