Henry Selick’s stop-motion take on Roald Dahl’s classic tale James and the Giant Peach leads this week’s video releases with a its first-ever Blu-ray edition.
The 1996 movie (Disney, Blu-ray or Blu-ray/DVD combo pack $39.99) features the voices of Paul Terry, Joanna Lumley, Miriam Margolyes and Pete Postlethwaite. The Blu-ray edition includes the exclusive ‘Spike the Aunts’ interactive game, inspired by the game that plays after the end movie credits. It also includes a production featurette, Randy Newman music video, photo gallery and the original theatrical trailer.
This week also sees the release of the more-recent film Kick-Ass (Lionsgate, $29.95 DVD, $39.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack), based on the Marvel/Icon comic book by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.
Those of use who remember the 1980s will want to catch up with Real Ghostbusters: Vol. 3 (City Lights, $39.98) and Max Headroom: The Complete Series (Shout! Factory, $49.97), collecting the sci-fi series imported from the U.K.
Anime fans can catch up with Naruto Shippuden: Box Set 3 (Warner Bros., $49.95 DVD, $69.97 DVD Special Edition).
