Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5, is the last day to register for Friday evening’s Producer’s Guild panel discussion on DVD production. The panel will include some of the industry’s leading producers in traditional and emerging media.
Jeffrey Lerner, PGA board member, producer and co-head of the DVD division at New Wave Ent., will moderate. Lerner’s recent credits include the 2002 Video Premiere Award nominee Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, and the 2002 DVD Award winner Citizen Kane.
The focus of the evening will be answering some of the most important questions in producing DVDs, including what are the basic responsibilities of the DVD producer?, who hires the DVD producer?, how much time do DVD producers have to conceptualize and produce their projects?, how does a DVD producer balance the needs of the director with the needs of the studio?, and what new DVD technologies are on the forefront of what’s around the corner?
The panel of experts will consist of Lucasfilm Ltd. marketing VP Jim Ward, Film historian and Disney authority Jeff Kurtti, special edition content producer David Prior (Ravenous, Fight Club), Walt Disney Music Group product development VP Thaddeus Kryczko, DVD producer Mark Rowen (Gladiator, Shrek, Minority Report), Warner Home Video special features/DVD VP Paul Hemstreet. Rounding out the group is Michael Pellerin, the award-winning documentary filmmaker behind the two Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Special Extended DVD Editions, as well as special editions of Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, The Three Caballeros and Tron.
