The European Association of Animation Film has named five finalists for the 2009 Cartoon d’Or prize for the best European animated short film.
Chosen from a field of 29 candidates ‘ all of them winners of awards at one of 11 partner festivals ‘ the winner will be announced Sept. 24 at Cartoon Forum in Stavangar, Norway.
‘ Aston’s Stones, directed by Uzi and Lotta Geffenblad, Sweden
‘ Party Animals, Merwan Chabane, France
‘ Madagascar, carnet de voyage, Bastien Dubois, France
‘ Please Say Something, David O’Reilly, Germany-Ireland
‘ Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death, Nick Park, United Kingdom
The finalists will get the chance to present their film at Cartoon Forum, which is set for Sept. 22-25. The winner will be decided by a jury made of up directors Serge Elissalde, Tomm Moore and Kari Juusonen and will receive funding for his or her next animation project.
