Shotgun Software ‘ maker of the pipeline management tool Shotgun ‘ is teaming up with visual effects houses Digital Domain and Zoic Studios for a user group presentation on working with pipelines at SIGGRAPH 2009.
The event, which will feature Ryan Mayeda of Digital Domain and Mike Romey of Zoic Studios, is set for Aug. 4 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. It is open to all SIGGRAPH attendees, though RSVPs to http://www.shotgunsoftware.com/rsvp are requested.
“Shotgun has made us vastly more efficient, studio-wide, over the past two years,” said Ryan Mayeda, technology projects manager, Digital Domain. “Having such a robust and user-friendly foundation allows us to streamline and integrate operations across multiple levels of the facility, from helping artists track what they’re working on to tallyin production-related statistics that managers can use to budget more effectively. ‘
“Both Digital Domain and Zoic Studios have deployed very effective pipeline solutions for television and film VFX production, but they have focused on different parts of their workflow and have used different approaches and techniques,’ says Don Parker, co-founder and CEO, Shotgun Software. ‘We think their presentations will provide a great launch pad for an engaging conversation about production tracking and pipeline problem solving.”
