Departure of Love, by Jennifer Bors of the Ringling College of Art and Design, won the Gold Medal in the animation category at the 2010 Student Academy Awards.
The silver medal went to Dried Up, by Isaiah Powers and Jeremy Casper of the Kansas City Art Institute, and the bronze was presented to Lifeline, by Andres Salaff of the California Institute of the Arts.
The awards were presented in a ceremony Saturday night at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. Oscar nominated director Henry Selick was a presenter, as was director Penelope Spheeris and Oscar-nominated actor Jeremy Renner.
The ceremony capped a week in which the finalists in each category participated in various industry-related networking and social events. The nominees did not learn which of the finalists earned the gold, silver and bronze honors in each category until the ceremony.
