The Small Press Expo has announced the selections for its first Animation Showcase, which spotlights independent animation.
‘These films let people know independent animation is as sophisticated as its big-budget brothers,’ says showcase committee co-chairman Paul Nadjmabadi. ‘Every year at SPX we see that pool of talent in comics that hasn’t been recognized yet, that one-off that someone did that’s the most amazing thing you’ve seen all year. We want to bring that to animation.’

The showcase also will screen a work of video art, Tyler Starr’s Attempted Fixed Survey.
Small Press Expo, the nation’s leading small-press comics and cartooning event, is set for Sept. 11-12 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Bethesda, Md.
