Edinburgh, Scotland-based Red Kite Prods. will be heading to this year’s Cartoon Forum with a couple of childrens animated television series currently in production. The Frightened Family and Katie Morag are two very different properties with distinctive Scottish flair
The Frightened Family, produced by Katja Anderson, is a twisted comic CG series for ages 8-12. The show revolves around one familys frightened look at the hazards of the everyday world. The characters are based on a series of lovably rotund sculptures by Scottish sculptor Mhairi Corr, which have been brought to life by digital artists Campbell McAllister and Garry Marshall.
Katie Morag, co-produced with The Fabbydoo Corp., is a 2D animated series for kids 4-7. Based on the best-selling childrens books by Scottish author Mairi Hedderwick, the series follows a little girls adventures growing up on a Scottish island. The trailer is being designed and directed by award-winning animator and Red Kite creative director Rachel Bevan Baker, with music specially commissioned from Capercaillies Donald Shaw.
Cartoon Forum takes place September 17-20 in Varese, Italy.
