Ever wonder what happens to imaginary friends when kids outgrow them? Cartoon Network answers that question with tonight’s (Aug. 13) premiere of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends. The new half-hour animated comedy series from The Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken will kick off at 7:30 p.m with a 90-minute feature. New episodes will then air every Friday at 7 p.m., with a replay at 10:30 p.m., beginning Aug. 20.

Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends follows the adventures of a boy named Mac and his imaginary friend, Blooregard, who is sent to a very unique foster home when Mac’s mother decides her son is too old for an imaginary friend.

The series is produced at Cartoon Network’s Burbank studios by McCracken’s 12-person team with production budgets running $300,000 to $400,000 per episode. In addition, some of the installments are being produced at Dublin-based Boulder Media. See the July issue of Animation Magazine for a complete cover feature on the new series.
