Among this weeks new home video releases are the first two volumes in the Walt Disney’s Timeless Tales collection. Each disc contains a handful of classic animated stories from the Disney vaults, including appearances from Mickey Mouse and other favorite characters.
Walt Disney’s Timeless Tales: Volume 1 includes 1990s The Prince and the Pauper (directed by George Scribner), in which Mickey plays dual roles. Also featured are the Oscar-winning shorts, The Three Little Pigs (1933, Burton Gillette) and The Tortoise and the Hare (1934, Wilfred Jackson), as well as The Grasshopper and the Ants (1934, Wilfred Jackson) and The Pied Piper (1933, Wilfred Jackson).
More Academy Award winners from the 1930s are featured in Walt Disney’s Timeless Tales: Volume 2, namely Ugly Duckling (1939, Jack Cutting) and The Country Cousin (1936, David Hand and Wilfred Jackson). Also included are Ferdinand the Bull (1938, Dick Rickard) and The Wind in The Willows (1949, Clyde Geronimi). Each Buena Vista Home Entertainment release lists for $19.99 on DVD.
