Og Comes to CBC

Canadian author Pierre Berton’s kid lit favorite The Secret World of Og is coming to the screen as an animated series that debuts on CBC on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 9:30 a.m. Co-produced by Helix Digital Inc. of Nova Scotia, Long Shot Pictures Inc. of Ontario and Title Entertainment Inc. of Ottawa, the series currently consists of nine episodes and will air weekly on Saturday mornings.

Having sold more than 200,000 copies in four editions, The Secret World of Og will find new life on the tube as young viewers explore and discover with the five Berton children: Penny, Pamela, Peter, Patsy and baby Paul (a.k.a. ‘The Pollywog’). When the kids discover a trapdoor in the floor of their clubhouse, they enter a mysterious world of caverns and rivers inhabited by little green creatures called Ogs. The show is directed by Paul Schibli, who also helmed the long-running CBC series The Raccoons.

The Secret World of Og is produced in association with the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., with the participation of the Canadian Television Fund created by the Government of Canada and the Canadian Cable Industry, the Nova Scotia Film Development Corporation, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, the Nova Scotia Film Industry Tax Credit, the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit, and the Ontario Computer Animation and Special Effects Tax Credit. International distribution is handled by CBC International Sales.
