Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and a host of other superheroes are finding a new home on Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s classic cartoon sister channel. Justice League Unlimited will begin airing Sunday, June 3, at 11 p.m. and will anchor Boomerang’s ‘Boomeraction’ franchise, which features Justice League forerunner SuperFriends and other vintage action-adventure series including SWAT Kats.
Produced by Bruce Timm, James Tucker, Linda Steiner and Dwayne McDuffie at Warner Bros. Animation, Justice League Unlimited is a spin-off of the popular Justice League animated series that ran on Cartoon Network from 2001-2004. The half-hour show sees the superhero conglomerate expand with the addition of more costumed crimefighters, which helps solve intergalactic problems but causes some conflicts among the group as powerful personalities collide.
The new roster of heroes includes Supergirl, Captain Atom, Hawk & Dove, B’wana Beast, The Atom, Booster Gold, Zatanna, Elongated Man, The Question, Mister Miracle and Big Barda. The new recruits help the old guard take on such classic villains as Lex Luthor, Soloman Grundy and Mongul.
