Kids’ WB! on The CW has picked up the animated martial arts comedy Skunk Fu! for its fall lineup. Acquired from U.K.-based Cake Distribution, the show is the sixth new series joining the Kids’ WB! block for the 2007-2008 season.
Skunk Fu! consists of 52 13-minute episodes and is aimed at kids 6-12. The series follows the adventures of a skunk who is accidentally dropped into China by a wayward stork as a child and has to learn the ways of Kung Fu in order to defend the animals of the valley from an evil mountain dragon and his hench-monkeys. Skunk and Panda are joined in their comedic adventures by a host of animal pals including the combat-ready Rabbit, the skillful Fox, the adroit Turtle and cowardly Tiger.
Skunk Fu! seamlessly blends martial arts action and broad humor with a mesmerizing Flash-anime artistic style that fits perfectly into the Kids’ WB! lineup,’ says Kids’ WB! senior VP and general manager Betsy McGowen.
Skunk Fu! is a co-production between Cartoon Saloon, Telegael and Hoek, Line and Thinker. Audiovisual rights are being handled worldwide by Cake Distribution and all licensing and merchandising rights are being managed by Galleon Plc. The show has been a hit with kids on CBBC in the U.K and ABC Rollercoaster in Australia. It has been sold in more than 35 territoriesm including France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, Belgium and Asia.
Previously announced Kids’ WB! series debuting in the fall include the CG-animated Eon Kid, the multi-platform offering Magi-Nation and the self-discovery show Will & Dewitt. Returning favorites include Warner Bros. Animation’s Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, Tom and Jerry Tales, Legion of Super Heroes, The Batman and Johnny Test. Mid-season entries will incude The Spectacular Spider-Man from Culver Ent., and Cookie Jar Ent.’s action/comedy World of Quest. The entire 2007 fall lineup will be announced in the near future.
