Burbank, Calif.-based Bang Zoom! Ent. has announced that its nine-episode first season of AnimeTV has been acquired by Comcast Corp. for its Anime Selects ON DEMAND network. Produced by Bang Zoom!, AnimeTV offers informative commentary and interviews with industry luminaries. The first episodes will be available to Comcast subscribers with Select ON DEMAND service beginning September 4.
Bang Zoom! Ent. is a full-service audio post production studio servicing feature films, television, interactive gaming and direct-to-video content. President and CEO Eric P. Sherman created AnimeTV as a modest, self-produced pod cast for fans by fans, and has seen its audience grow rapidly since it became available via iTunes and www.goanimetv.com.
The first season of AnimeTV is hosted by noted voice actor and Bang Zoom! talent Johnny Yong Bosch (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Bleach, Trigun), and features reviews of such popular series as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Naruto, Samurai Champloo, Har’ + Guu and Bleach. Other program highlights include interviews with prominent voice actors including Cowboy Bebop cast members Steve Blum and Wendee Lee.
Comcast’s Anime Selects became interested in acquiring AnimeTV after collaborating with the program at the 2007 Anime Expo. Anime Selects broadcasted a series of news bulletins and a variety of entertainment features from the show floor and requested AnimeTV to host all of its interactive events during the convention.
