Canadian broadcaster TELETOON will offer viewers a dedicated destination for classic cartoons with the launch of TELETOON Retro. Spotlighting the antics of such beloved characters as Bugs Bunny, Fred Flintstone, Scooby-Doo, George Jetson, Fat Albert, the Superfirends and Rocky and Bullwinkle, the new channel will debut across Canada on Oct. 1. at 6 p.m.
‘TELETOON Retro lets you be a kid again,’ says Len Cochrane, president of TELETOON Canada Inc. ‘The characters are iconic pop-culture figures and viewers ask us daily to bring them back on air. I’m thrilled that our distribution and marketing partners recognize the channel’s wide appeal and have provided us the opportunity to launch TELETOON Retro in nearly 2-million homes from day one.’
Aimed at adults 25-49, TELETOON Retro is being teased for TELETOON viewers starting today with a special hour airing every evening at 7:30 p.m. (ET/PT). With the official Oct. 1 launch, TELETOON Retro will be available as part of the Digital standard package on Bell ExpressVu. Ongoing negotiations with additional carriers are expected to be finalized by launch time.
