Dora Makes Splash in TV Movie

Preschool sensation Dora the Explorer will be cleaning up the ocean to rescue an underwater Mermaid Kingdom in Dora Saves the Mermaids, a new hour-long, primetime TV movie airing Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment recently released the special on DVD, complete with two additional Dora the Explorer episodes.

In support of the movie, Nick Jr. has started airing a new PSA featuring Cameron Diaz, Dora and real kids encouraging the viewers at home to help keep our oceans clean. In addition, beginning Monday, Oct. 29, Nickjr.com’s broadband video service, Nick Jr. Video, will feature a never-before-seen music video and two-minute sneak peek at the movie. The exclusive content will also be available on wireless carriers beginning Monday, Oct. 29.

Nickjr.com will also offer an interactive game titled Dora’s Mermaid Adventure and other activities starting Wednesday, Oct. 17. In addition, the site will feature a photo gallery of kids in Dora Mermaid outfits, plus mermaid-themed printables, eco-friendly activities and more.

Dora the Explorer was created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh and Eric Weiner. After more than seven years on the air, the series remains one of the top-rated preschool shows on commercial television. The international phenomenon is broadcast all over the world, teaching the majority of viewers English rather than Spanish. Syndicated to TV broadcasters in 125 markets and translated in 24 languages, Dora the Explorer is among one of the top-rated preschool shows in nearly every major television market around the world across broadcast and cable.
