Ricky Sprocket Rockets to Nicktoons

Nicktoons Network will host the U.S. premiere of the animated series Ricky Sprocket’Showbiz Boy on Monday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. (ET). The 26-episode show from Oscar-winning creators Alison Snowden and David Fine will air Saturdays at 2 p.m. (ET) on Nicktoons as part of an international roll-out across 14 Nickelodeon channels, including Nick U.K. and Nick Australia.

Ricky Sprocket’Showbiz Boy chronicles the adventures of superstar child actor who tries to balance family, friends and school with the pressures of his crazy showbiz life. Though he lives in a Hollywood mansion and has all the latest toys, he’s a fairly regular kid who has to put up with embarrassing parents, an annoying sister, a flatulent dog and too much homework.

In the first half of the premiere episode, ‘The Screen Kiss,’ Ricky learns that he has to have his first screen kiss with his arch nemesis, Kitten. Wyen friends fail to offer helpful advice, his mom thinks it’s time his father had ‘the talk’ with Ricky.

Then ‘Oh Hap-pee Day’ finds Ricky dealing with a PR nightmare when his younger sister spills her drink on him at an awards show and the press goes crazy thinking he has wet his pants on stage.

Ricky Sprocket’Showbiz Boy is produced by Studio B Prods. and Snowden Fine Animation Inc., in association with Bejuba! Entertainment. Episodes of the show will begin streaming on demand this month on Nicktoon’s video player at www.nicktoonsnetwork.com and on www.rickysprocket.com. Other video content from the series will also be available for viewing.

Alison Snowden and David Fine created the award winning animated series Bob and Margaret, which was based on their Oscar-winning short, Bob’s Birthday, and aired on Showtime in the U.S. They have been working together since meeting in film school in 1980, and have made several award winning films including two other Oscar-nominated shorts, George and Rosemary and Second Class Mail. They have worked at the National Film Board of Canada and ran their own studio in London before relocating to Vancouver in 2004 to produce Ricky Sprocket with Studio B.
