South Park Returns

Comedy Central’s hit animated series South Park is back to kick off its 12th season this Wednesday, March 12. Cartman’s routine tonsillectomy goes horribly wrong and he’s diagnosed with an incurable disease in the premiere episode, ‘Tonsil Trouble,’ debuting at 10 p.m. Fans will be able to download the uncensored version of each new episode on iTunes, Xbox LIVE and Amazon Unbox.

When Cartman goes under the knife and doesn’t get the support he feels he deserves, he takes matters into his own hands and the face of South Park may change forever, according to Comedy Central. Wednesday’s premiere episode is one of seven new installments of the series, which remains the network’s top-rated program.

Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park launched in 1997 and recently enjoyed its second highest-rated season. The 11th season got a boost from the infamous ‘Imaginationland’ trilogy of episodes, which exemplifies the brand of irreverent humor and pop-culture parody the show is known for. Installments of the series repeat on Wednesdays at 12 a.m., Thursdays at 10 p.m. and 12 a.m., and Sundays at 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.
