IATV Adds Bandai Anime

IATV, a cable network tailored to Asian Americans, has acquired severl anime series from Bandai as part of a programming overhaul, according to Daily Variety. Formerly known as ImaginAsian, the channel will see a major shift in its lineup starting the week of June 30, with other new offerings including theatrical features from Sony and MGM, a ‘Chix Kix Flix’ action movie night and a television version of the Minisode Network seen on Sony’s Crackle.com and other platforms.

The IATV Wednesday night lineup will feature such Bandai anime favorites as Mai Hime and Ghost Slayers Ayashi, as well as live-action series The Great Horror Family and Bloodhound. The network currently offers Anime EnergG, a Geneon-powered Tuesday-night block featuring such shows as Kyo Kara Maoh, Elemental Gelade, Gankutsuou, Human Crossing and Cat’s Eye.

Viewers will also be able to catch the 1960s live-action giant robot series Johnny Sokko, as well as a Friday-night retro movie showcase featuring such cult favorites as Buckaroo Bonzai and Flash Gordon. For more information on IATV and its programming, go to www.iatv.tv.
