Anime Network and leading television-on-demand company TVN Entertainment Corp. have entered into a three-year VOD services partnership. The deal includes industry-wide distribution and asset/metadata management services in support of Anime Network’s subscription-based and free on-demand programming services across various formats.
The partnership grants Anime Network full access to TVN’s suite of on-demand products and services including the Emmy-nominated asset management system ADONISS; iPRI, an advanced interactive tool that allows programmers to dynamically update VOD metadata before, during, and after asset distribution to VOD servers; and TVNow, a fast turnaround service that converts live programming into on-demand content available to viewers within hours of the event. The deal also involves support for Anime Network’s on-demand advertising initiatives.
Anime Network recently dropped its linear cable channel, opting to focus its resources on its VOD initiatives.
‘Our goal has always been to create an unparalleled viewing experience for Anime fans, and VOD is a centerpiece of that strategy because of its strong consumer appeal and its ability to promote niche content,” comments Stacy Dodson, director of programming for Anime Network. ‘TVN has been a great partner, and we look forward to expanding upon that foundation to take advantage of TVN’s innovations like dynamic metadata updates and VOD advertising support.’
A subsidiary of A.D. Vision Inc. (parent company to ADV Films), Anime Network reaches more than 43 million households with thousands of hours of serialized animated programming. Launched in North America in late 2002, the service has become one of the nation’s top VOD offerings, and is also available on mobile and broadband platforms.
