TELETOON Gives Go-Ahead to Go-Girl

Canada’s TELETOON has ordered 26 half hour of Go Girl, a live-action/animation hybrid series from Independent Canadian Studio Blueprint Ent. The first TELETOON original production to feature live-action elements, the show will go into production in late fall, filming in Toronto and the greater Ontario region, for a fall 2009 on-air launch.

Go-Girl has a town turned upside down when 15-year-old Becky Smith’s class project results in her election as mayor. The series follows Becky and her enthusiastic group of friends as they balance family, high school, relationships, and politics. An online component will encourage teens and tweens to make a difference and have their voices heard while providing them with an enhanced television experience.

Blueprint’s John Morayniss and animation veteran Frank Saperstein join creator Wilson Coneybeare (Timeblazers, Monster Warriors) as exec producers on Go-Girl. Alyse Rosenberg (Braceface, Ready or Not) serves as head writer/showrunner. Blueprint’s Oasis Int’l will distribute the series worldwide.

Casting directors Lisa Parasyn and Jon Comerford have begun a country-wide casting search seeking young talent to populate the Go-Girl world. Blueprint has even expanded the casting search to the web via a Facebook Event page. Young hopefuls are being invited to post their auditions onto Youtube for consideration.
