Robot Chicken Not Done with Star Wars

Adult Swim assured Comic-Con attendees that it will give fans a follow-up to the Emmy-nominated animated special Robot Chicken: Star Wars. Premiering Nov. 16 at 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT), Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode II will combine the satirical sensibilities of series creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich of Stoopid Monkey Prods. with the unforgettable moments and favorite characters of the Star Wars universe. Both specials and the Robot Chicken series are created in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films’ Alex Bulkley and Corey Campononico.

‘With this second special, we knew we had to do something a bit different, something more,’ says Senreich. ‘With that in mind, we decided to focus on the bounty hunters a bit and explore their stories. It’s a geek-fest for us all.’

Green, who won an Annie Award for directing the first special, returns to the director’s chair for the stop-motion sequel, which will feature original Star Wars lead actress Carrie Fisher reprising her role as Princess Leia and Billy Dee Williams returning as Lando Calrissian. Other familiar voices will include Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks, Seth MacFarlane as Emperor Palpatine, Breckin Meyer as Admiral Ackbar and Boba Fett ad Conan O’Brien as Zuckuss. Green will also voice numerous characters, including Ponda Baba, while other voices are provided by Andy Richter and Scrubs star Donald Faison.

The first Robot Chicken: Star Wars installment was released on DVD on Tuesday. Six all-new episodes of the Robot Chicken series will begin airing August 31 on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.
