The Hollywood Reporter brings word that 24 star Eric Balfour will battle CG-animated beasties in the original SCI FI Channel movie Rise of the Gargoyle. RHI Ent. will handle international distribution for the pic, a co-production of Canada’s Muse Ent. and Romania’s Mediapro Studios. Filming is underway in Romania.
Rise of the Gargoyle stars Balfour as Jack Richmond, whose outlandish theories on pagan architecture make him the laughingstock of the academic world. Things only get worse for the struggling author when he comes fact-to-face with a living gargoyle in Paris and no one will believe him. Caroline Neron, Jason Salinger, Nick Mancuso and Tanya Clarke co-star.
The latest in a series of Gargoyle movies to air on SCI FI, the film is being directed by Bill Corcoran. Francois Sylvestre and Andreea Stanculeanu are producing, with RHI’s Robert Halmi Sr. and Muse’s Michael Prupas serving as exec producers.
