The Walt Disney Co. will convert its Jetix outlets in five European nations to the Disney Channel name and brand.
The change is set for later this year in Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Bulgaria.
The move will add 12 million households to the overall audience for Disney Channel, already the world’s leading kids TV brand. Content will be localized for each market, featuring content dubbed into local languages.
“(Central and Eastern Europe) is a key market for The Walt Disney Company and launching Disney Channel is central to the company’s strategic growth plan in the region,’ says Giorgio Stock, executive VP and GM Disney Channels EMEA.
Among the programs that Disney Channel will bring to these markets are Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb, High School Musical, Camp Rock, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny.
