4Kids Debuts Turtles Forever at MIPCOM

4Kids Entertainment will debut a 90-minute special event capturing the various looks and spirit of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise at this year’s MIPCOM.

The new animated special celebrates the franchise’s 25th anniversary and includes three segments, each showcasing a different classic look. The first segment looks like the 1984 black-and-white Mirage Studios comic book that started the franchise, while the second will adopt the look of the late 1980s and early 1990s animated series, and the final sequence will look like the current animated series.

The special, titled Turtles Forever, is written and directed by supervising producer Lloyd Goldfine. He has worked closely with Peter Laird, who co-created the Turtles with Kevin Eastman, on the current animated series, which 4Kids launched in 2003.

‘This is one of the most ambitious and creative presentations of the Turtles ever,’ said Brian Lacey, executive VP of 4Kids Entertainment. ‘It’s an all-family viewing event thanks to the enormous popularity the Turtles have earned over their first 25 years. This property truly bridges two generations, appealing to the original Turtles fan base who’ve become the young parents of today, and to their children.’
