The National Football League is teaming up with Nickelodeon to produce a new animated short-form series called Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core.
The series will consist of 22 shorts running three to five minutes each and based on the NFL’s online Rush Zone site for kids. The shorts will feature all 32 NFL teams as well as the voices of players and coaches.
The series is set to air on a weekly basis concurrent with the 2010 NFL season on Nicktoons. It also will air online at nflrush.com. A one-hour movie special will air the day before Super Bowl XLV.
‘To be able to bring the power of two brands that boys love, the NFL and Nickelodeon, together under one roof and leverage the best of what we both do is extremely exciting,’ said Keith Dawkins, Nicktoons GM, senior VP, Nickelodeon Programming Partnerships. ‘This new series combines fantasy, sports, game play, team work, competition and the age old theme of good vs. evil, under one compelling new narrative.’
