Rocker Avril Lavigne has written her own Manga comic and developed a series of limited-animation music shorts that air on ADV Films’ Anime Network mobile offerings. The cross-promotional relationship is part of a multimedia project developed by Lavigne’s management company, Nettwerk, and Sony BMG to promote her latest album, The Best Damn Thing.
Titled Make 5 Wishes, the manga series and music videos deal with an introverted teenager, Hana, whose life is changed forever when she meets her hero, Avril Lavigne, and finds the courage to conquer her own personal demons. The music videos are available to view and/or download at $1.99 per episode through the dedicated website www.make5wishes.com.
In exchange for the promotional push, Lavigne has provides ADV Films with broadcast and mobile distribution rights to the animated manga shorts. The recording artist is also providing online advertising, record promotional IDs and signed copies of her manga and CD for online sweepstakes and giveaways. New music video animations are being released weekly on the Make5wishes.com website.
