DPS Film Roman, an IDT Ent. company, is working with Hasbro Properties Group to produce two 3D-animated direct-to-video movies based on WEEBLES, a popular toyline marketed under Hasbro’s PLAYSKOOL division.
Hasbro is providing character designs and scripts, and DPS/Film Roman is animating and supervising production. The series will be distributed worldwide by Paramount Home Entertainment, with the first title scheduled to hit shelves in the spring of 2005.
The WEEBLES brand was first introduced in 1972 and was made famous by the signature phrase, "WEEBLES wobble, but they don’t fall down." This year, Hasbro is reintroducing the classic toy brand with new characters and playsets for today’s kids.
Now celebrating its 20th anniversary, DPS Film Roman is the Emmy Award-winning independent animation house behind such hit shows a Fox’s The Simpsons and King of The Hill. The company also produces network and syndicated Saturday morning kids toons including X-Men: Evolution, as well as the SCI-FI Channel’s 3D adult series, Tripping the Rift. Since its founding in 1984, the studio has won 19 Emmy awards, 13 Annies, one Grammy and one MTV Video Music Award.
