Actor Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Narc, Identity) has signed on for director Uwe Boll’s feature film adaptation of Microsoft’s Dungeon Siege role-playing video game franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The $60 million, three-hour fantasy epic is being shot in Vancouver and is slated for a late-summer 2006 release.
German filmmaker Boll has become the go-to guy for video game movies after adapting Sega’s zombie thriller House of the Dead in 2003 and following it up with his take on Atari’s Alone in the Dark, released earlier this year. And though those films under whelmed critics and stalled at the box office, he keeps getting more interactive titles to play with. He’s now finishing a film based on Majesco’s BloodRayne and has Eido’s Fear Effect, Vivendi Universal Games’ Hunter: The Reckoning and Ubisoft’s Far Cry in the pipeline.
In Dungeon Seige, Liotta will play the villainous Gallian, joining a stellar cast that includes Burt Reynolds, Ron Perlman, John Rhys-Davies, Matthew Lillard, Kristanna Loken, Leelee Sobieski, Will Sanderson, Jason Statham, former NFL star Brian J. White, and German supermodel Eva Padberg.
