Actor Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Narc, Identity) has signed on for director Uwe Bolls feature film adaptation of Microsofts Dungeon Siege role-playing video game franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The $60 million, three-hour fantasy epic is being shot in Vancouver and is slated for a late-summer 2006 release.
German filmmaker Boll has become the go-to guy for video game movies after adapting Segas zombie thriller House of the Dead in 2003 and following it up with his take on Ataris Alone in the Dark, released earlier this year. And though those films under whelmed critics and stalled at the box office, he keeps getting more interactive titles to play with. Hes now finishing a film based on Majescos BloodRayne and has Eidos Fear Effect, Vivendi Universal Games Hunter: The Reckoning and Ubisofts Far Cry in the pipeline.
In Dungeon Seige, Liotta will play the villainous Gallian, joining a stellar cast that includes Burt Reynolds, Ron Perlman, John Rhys-Davies, Matthew Lillard, Kristanna Loken, Leelee Sobieski, Will Sanderson, Jason Statham, former NFL star Brian J. White, and German supermodel Eva Padberg.
