Commercial animation production house Global Mechanic has created a new division to focus on series production, kicking things off with new shows for PBS and Cartoon Network. The unit is headed by animation veterans Bruce Alcock, Tai Keattivanichvily and Matthew Charde.
For WGBH and PBS, Global Mechanic is working on FETCH!, a game show/reality series hosted by an animated dog. The show follows six tween-aged kids as they take on real-world challenges that offer a hands-on approach to science. Global Mechanics creative director, Bruce Alcock, designed the main character, Ruff Ruffman, and oversees the entire animation process.
Also for WGBH, Global Mechanic is animating three childrens books for the series Between the Lions. The company will use After Effects to bring illustrations to life for Colin McNaughtons Here Come the Aliens, Sarah Weeks Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash, and Judith Viorsts Ill Fix Anthony.
Global Mchanic is in production on The Brothers Pistov, a series of five Flash-animated shorts created by Lincoln Pierce. The show centers on two angry Russian dogs engaged in constant oneupsmanship.
Two years ago, Global Mechanic expanded its commercial operations by opening an office in the U.S. Now the company is outfitted to offer compete production services for commercials, television and independent films.
