Billy & Mandy Goes Next Gen on Wii

Video game publisher and developer Midway Games Inc. today announced that it is developing a next-generation version of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy for the Nintendo Wii. Based on the hit Cartoon Network series, the adventure/fighting game will be available for PlayStation 2, GameCube and Game Boy Advance this holiday season.

Series creator Maxwell Atoms wrote the game’s script and worked closely with the game’s development team to make sure it worked as a faithful extension of the show. He even directed the voiceover sessions with the original cast reprising their roles. The game will allow players to play as one of 15 popular characters from the series, using unique moves and powers to battle enemies in 20 fully interactive and destructible environments. Mission mode can be played as either a single-player or a two-person cooperative game, while Battle mode will allow up to four players to go head-to-head in various arenas.

The Nintendo Wii version is expected to utilize features that are unique to the forthcoming next-gen system, including split controls and motion sensing. Midway is also building in content-specific gameplay features that will be available only on the Wii platform. More details on these features will be released at a later date.
