The German student short My Date From Hell and the French entry L’Oeil Du Cyclone were named the top 3D and 2D entries respectively as the 2007 Animex International Festival of Animation & Computer Games announced winners and runners up. The announcement was made Thursday night by DreamWorks Animation’s European representative, Shelley Page, at Cineworld Multiplex in Middlesbrough, U.K. The awards ceremony wrapped up a week of screenings and other festivities that kicked off on Feb. 5 at the University of Teesside in Middlesbrough.
“The diversity and range of narratives this year reflected a truly international student following,’ says Justin Greetham, head of Animex Awards. ‘The Animex Awards now attracts entries from students in countries including Malaysia, China, New Zealand and Tasmania. We were particularly pleased to see an entry from ITB Bandung Institute of Technology in Indonesia make it to the final [round] of the competition with its very own unique blend of games design. A taste of things to come perhaps!”
