The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) has signed on to broadcast 9 Story Ent.’s new animated series Best Ed. Currently in production, the show is scheduled for delivery in early 2008 and will air as part of the ABC Kids afternoon programming block. Home video distribution rights have been acquired by Australian distributor Madman Ent.
Best Ed (52×11) revolves around the unlikely friendship between a helpful dog named Ed and his squirrel pal, Buddy. The show is a 9 Story original production for TELETOON in Canada and Cartoon Network U.K. 9 Story has also secured pre-sale deals for the property with Cartoon Network Europe and the Middle East.
Led by exec producers Vince Commisso and Steven Jarosz, Canada’s 9 Story (www.9story.com) also produces such popular shows as PEEP and the Big Wide World and Skyland. The company recently teamed with Italian production company Atlantyca Ent. and France’s MoonScoop Prods. to co-produce an animated series based on Atlantyca’s popular Geronimo Stilton children’s book series.
