StarWars.com, the official site from Lucasfilm Ltd, has posted a promo for the recently announced half-hour [adult swim] special Robot Chicken: Star Wars. A collaborative effort from Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich and Lucasfilm, the stop-motion animated spoof will feature the voices of Star Wars mastermind George Lucas, actor Mark Hamil, talk show host Conan O’Brien, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and a number of other celebrities.
Green, a self-professed Star Wars geek, directed the special and produced with Senreich through their Stoopid Monkey Prods., along with Alex Bulkley’s and Corey Campodonico’s ShadowMachine Films. The project came about after Lucasfilm approached Green and Senreich about putting one of several Star Wars-themed Robot Chicken sketches on the StarWars.com website.
In addition to animated riffs on classic Star Wars moments, viewers can look forward to cameo voice appearances by Robert Smigel, Malcolm McDowell, Hulk Hogan, James Van Der Beek, Donald Faison, Abraham Benrubi, Breckin Meyer and Joey Fatone.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars will debut at 10 p.m. on June 17 during cartoon Network’s [adult swim] block. A marathon of popular Robot Chicken episodes will follow. Check out the promo for the special click here.
