During its Upfront presentation in New York City, the FOX network announced that it will make some time changes for a couple of its animated primetime shows to accommodate its previously announced spin-off of the Terminator films. The Sarah Conner Chronicles will debut in the 9 p.m. (ET/PT) Sunday slot during the second half of the 2007-2008 season, causing American Dad and Family Guy to shift to 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively. Reliable toon favorites The Simpsons and King of the Hill will continue their run at 8 and 8:30 p.m.
Family Guy currently airs at 9 p.m., followed by American Dad at 9:30. Both shows are created by Seth McFarlane and feature edgy and decidedly adult humor, which may raise a few eyebrows when they start drawing in younger viewers in the earlier timeslots. Family Guy has already taken heat from certain parent and religious watchdog groups for its racy content.
The season Finale of American Dad airs this Sunday. In the episode, titled ‘Joint Custody,’ Stan turns into a bounty hunter after Roger finds out that Jeff was in trouble for smuggling pot into Florida. Stan and Roger then race cross country to turn Jeff in.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles comes from Warner Bros. Television and C2 Pictures, which produced Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. Exec produced by War of the Worlds writer Josh Friedman, the show reportedly takes place between the second and third Terminator movies, much like Cartoon Network’s animated Star Wars: Clone Wars microseries.
