Britney Spears, George Bush, Brad Pitt, Isaiah Washington and a number of other headline makers get an animated skewering in Hidden Celebrity Webcam, a new Flash-animated web series from the Icebox collective that debuted on the GoFish Network on May 10. Created by Nell Scovell (Sabrina, the Teenage Witch) the program will go interactive next month as it welcomes fans to provide their own voyeur’s glimpse into the most private and embarrassing moments of some of Hollywood’s most notorious celebrities.
Starting June 6, Hidden Celebrity Webcam will challenge GoFish viewers to create and upload their own hidden celeb webcam videos. The entries will be viewed and judged by Scovell and a panel of Emmy-winning TV producers including Howard Gordon (exec producer, 24), Rob LaZebnik (co-exec producer, The Simpsons) and John Collier (co-exec producer, King of the Hill). Five finalists will be selected and the winner will receive a meeting with the Rothman Brecher talent agency to discuss talent representation. The first prize winner also will receive an Apple MacBook Pro, while runners-up receive Apple iPods.
“We’ve partnered with the creative talents at Icebox to develop a MFI [(made-for-Internet)] series offering artists a unique opportunity to put their video productions in front of top television executives,” says Lori Macias, VP of GoFish’s MFI division. “Hidden Celebrity Webcam is also our first MFI series with animation, and it is our goal to explore a wide variety of genres with each original program.”
“This program demonstrates the potential of a creative collaborative and with the contest we can give aspiring, talented writers and artists a new forum for their artistic expression,” adds Icebox co-founder and CEO Tal Vigderson.
New episodes of Hidden Celebrity Webcam will air weekly over a 13-week period. The program is sponsored by the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, which will be broadcast live from the Gibson Theater in Universal City, Calif., on Sunday, June 3. Actress/comedian Sarah Silverman will host the event as nomination leaders Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and 300 square off.
