Hellraiser writer/director Clive Barker will deliver the opening keynote address at this year’s Hollywood & Games summit, taking place June 26-27 at the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles. Presented by CMP Game Group, host of the Game Developers Conference (GDC), and entertainment trade publication The Hollywood Reporter, the event offers a forum for business and creative professionals from the video-game and film industries to gather and address the increasing collaboration between film and interactive entertainment. Barker, who also creates comic books and is venturing into video games with Jericho, will discuss the ‘Interactive Parallel Universe’ and his creative process as he kicks off the proceedings.

Wednesday’s keynote address will be provided by Thomas Tull, chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures. The financier has been instrumental in the development of such films as Batman Begins, Superman Returns and 300. He brings his skills to the gaming industry with the debut of his latest venture, Brash Ent., and will discuss the parallels between film and games, and how they inspire one another. Tull will be joined by Brash Ent. CEO Mitch Davis, who describes how his film-centric game studio synchronizes with the movie industry.

Conference sessions will include ‘How Talent can Cross the Digital Divide,’ moderated by Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner. He’ll be joined by Kim Libreri, Vp of Advanced Strategy for Digital Domain; Yannis Mallat, CEO of Ubisoft Montreal; Susan O’Connor, game writer for Gears of War; and actor Yuri Lowenthal (Afro Samurai, Prince of Persia).

‘Digital Animation Between Film and Games,’ moderated by Hollywood Reporter writer John Gaudiosi, will feature TMNT writer/director Kevin Munroe, Ubisoft animation director Giles Garceau, Heavy Iron Studios/THQ general manager Lyle Hall and Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment’s head of 3D development, Todd Pilger.

A panel on ‘Integrating Games into Television’ will offer discussion by Foglight Ent. president Gregg Backer, Electronic Arts director of entertainment development Brandon Barber and The History Channel producer Peggy Kim. SpikeTV exec Geoff Keighley will moderate.
