Vivendi Visual Entertainment, the home entertainment division of Universal Music Group Distribution, has moved into the lucrative children’s DVD business with the public television puppet/live-action series Mustard Pancakes. The multi-year agreement will produce a series of holiday and other theme-driven hour-long DVDs, the first of which is expected to debut this September.
Created by Joel Wertman and Courtney Campbell, Mustard Pancakes revolves around the loveable and talented Ms. Campbell, her cat, Mr. D., and her three dogs, Oogleberry Ink Dog, Tiny Tina Ten Toes and Mo. Each episode of the musical show is designed to mirror a slice of everyday life so kids can relate to the storylines. The show was created with the cooperation of veteran public television puppeteers, writers, musical composers and consultants, and is now in its second season.
