Jetix Europe has picked up the second season of the animated series Galactik Football from French animation house Alphanim. The 26 new half hours will bring the total number of installments to 52 and will air on Jetix Europe channels starting in the summer 2008.
Aimed at kids 8-12, Galactik Football follows the magical adventures of
the Snow Kids, a football (soccer) team from the planet Akillian. In the second season, the kids are back on Space Stadium Genesis to defend their Galactik Cup crown. Two years have passed since the first series and their “Flux-fuelled” football skills are more advanced, but fame and fortune brings new problems to the team. It is now time to look for fresh talent to reinvigorate the group.
Designed and produced in Paris by Alphanim’s in-house team, the show features a mix of 2D character animation CG sports action created with motion-capture to replicate the moves of real professional footballers, acrobatic stunt experts and character actors. Animators then enhance this data to create the incredible ball handling and sky-high leaps the show is known for.
Since its launch across Europe in 2006, Galactik Football has been one of the key shows for Jetix, consistently ranking among the top ten programs on the network of channels. JCP (Jetix Consumer Products) manages home video rights, licensing and merchandising rights for Europe.
