Having been serialized on the Internet, the Star Trek-themed animated Borg War will have its theatrical debut at the Official Star Trek Convention. Taking place at the Las Vegas Hilton on Friday, August 10 at 6:20 p.m., the screening with feature the final edition of the machinima movie, complete with never-before-seen footage and special effects.
Filmmaker Geoffrey James created Borg War using visual assets and sound clips from various Star Trek video games. The online installments have been downloaded more than a million times at http://Machinima.com, and were nominated for the Best Series and Technical Achievement awards by the Academy for Machinima Arts and Sciences (AMAS).
This year’s Star Trek Convention is scheduled for Over Aug. 9-12 at the The Las Vegas Hilton and is expected to attract more than 12,000 fans. William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Brent Spiner headline a guest list that boasts more than 75 Trek celebrities lined up for the event, which will also offer parties, contests and auctions, among other things. On the Evening of Aug. 11, a special Star Trek concert will feature members of the Las Vegas Philharmonic under the direction of associate conductor Richard McGee.
