Cartoon Network MMOG Debuts at Comic-Con

Cartoon Network today unveiled its first massively multi-player online game (MMOG), Cartoon Network Universe: FusionFall, at Comic-Con Int’l in San Diego. Attendees can go to the Cartoon Network booth to demo the game, which is slated for release in 2008. In addition, FusionFall creators will provide an in-depth look at the game during a panel discussion on Thursday, July 26 at 5 p.m. in Room 3 of the San Diego Convention Center.

In FusionFall, players will team up with other fans and Cartoon Network characters to defend a re-imagined Cartoon Network universe from an alien invasion of epic proportions. The game promises to deliver all the action of a -D console platform game with the customization, character development and open-ended world exploration of an online role-playing game. Along the way, players can collect small, super-deformed versions of Cartoon Network characters, which travel with them and provide powers and abilities to assist during missions.

According to Paul Condolora, senior VP and general manager of Cartoon Network New Media, online gaming continues to be the main driver of the units success and that fans are logging on to the tune of more than 2 billion game plays a year.

FusionFall was reated through a partnership with leading Korean MMOG developer Grigon Ent., which is best known for developing and launching hit web games in Asia, including Seal Online. More information on FusionFall can be found at www.fusionfall.com. There, visitors can view news updates, images and game-play footage, and will be able to sign up for the official newsletter and a chance to beta test the game.
